Dear Knitter, I am glad finally to be able to present an English version of my homepage. The main purpose of the site is to help knitters outside Denmark to find the right yarns and colors for the designs in the book “Knitting Out of Africa: Inspired Sweater Designs”. The book is published by Interweave and you can still buy it directly from Interweave (ISBN no. 1-931499-98-5) or on Amazon.com. TWO Spring 2009 titles:
INTERWEAVE is going to publish my other books aswell and they write:
Classic Knits: Marianne Isager Collection (March) Japanese Inspired Knits: Marianne Isager Collection (April). INKA will come out in October 2009 from Interweave. DETAILS: Classic Knits: Marianne Isager Collection Marianne Isager This timeless collection of knitwear designs from Danish designer Marianne Isager is a stitch technique guide and a gallery of design inspiration in one book. Classic Knits features 25 traditional, appealing projects worked in basic knit and purl stitch patterns, each with a distinctive design element typical of Marianne’s style, be it an interesting combination of yarns, a clever use of stitch pattern, or an unusual form of construction. Choose the knitting technique you’d like to learn—entrelac, color stranding, double knitting, slip stitch, herringbone, and more—and apply them to your design by first practicing with a gauge swatch. When the swatch is knitted to the correct gauge and the same size as shown in the book, the garment will match the measurements listed in the pattern. Many of the garments in this book are based on simple knit-purl pattern stitches. None require extensive knitting experience. You only need to know how to cast on, knit, and bind off to successfully complete any project in this book. All other information is provided in sidebars and the Glossary. Many knitters have trouble with the finishing process. For that reason, the garments have been designed to require as little finishing as possible. Several of the garments are worked from the top down, so it's easy to add or remove rows to customize the lengths. Classic Knits will appeal to beginning to advanced knitters looking for innovative knitwear designs that include a variety of knitting techniques. Paperbound, 8½ x 9, 192 pages 60 photographs, 60 illustrations ISBN 978-1-59668-115-6 $24.95 WP Pub date: March 2009 IWP warehouse date: February 15, 2009 Japanese Inspired Knits: Marianne Isager Collection Marianne Isager Inspired by the seasonal festivals and traditions of Japan, Marianne Isager blends traditional Scandinavian knitting with a distinctive Japanese influence in Japanese Inspired Knits. Explore beautiful design elements steeped in folk customs with these patterns created especially for women. True to the Japanese ideals of high-quality design and materials, Marianne presents 12 sweaters oriented around the months of the year that are knitted using almost a dozen different techniques. With project names like Sake and Soba, Summer in Tokyo, Rice Fields, Flower Buds, and Stone Garden, knitters have inspiration aplenty. In additional to standard knit and purl combinations, the patterns feature double knitting, domino knitting, shadow knitting, lace, cables, entrelac, intarsia, and stranded two-color knitting. All techniques are described in detail with clear text and illustrations, and an illustrated glossary at the end of the book provides additional technical instruction needed for any project. Also included are Japanese ideographs that relate to themes that inspired the projects, a Japanese calendar, plus lush travel photography of Japan that will inspire any knitter. Knitters of all skill levels looking for innovative women's wear with new techniques for sweater design will gain insight on how to translate travel inspiration into beautiful knitwear with Japanese Inspired Knits.
