From RS and with col B pick up and knit 14 (15) 16 (17) sts along the cast-on edge of right strap, cast on 56 (60) 64 (68) new sts the Continental way, using 2 threads of B, with one thread over the index finger and the other over the thumb (use 2 ndls held together when casting on to avoid a too tight edge). Pick up and knit 14 (15) 16 17 sts along the other strap and work the first row from WS:
